Frequently Asked Questions

MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) compares an activity's energy cost to resting metabolism \u2014 1 MET is roughly the energy used sitting quietly, and higher MET values mean more intense activity. These standard values come from the Compendium of Physical Activities used in exercise science research.
MET-based estimates are a reasonable approximation but don't account for individual differences in fitness level, exact intensity, terrain, or body composition \u2014 a fitness tracker with heart-rate monitoring will generally be more precise for any one person.
